Ban Talad is a beautiful traditional stone-built home dating back to the 17th century. Situated in the heart of Matlock, on the edge of the beautiful Peak District, the home combines historic character with a modern, contemporary and welcoming interior.
Ban Talad provides a solo placement for one young person, male or female, up to the age of 18. The home is supported by a small and consistent team, enabling care and support to be tailored around the individual young person.
At Ban Talad, we strive to create a settled, consistent and therapeutic family environment within a genuine home setting. Our aim is to provide a place where a young person can feel welcomed, valued, safe and reassured that they will be listened to.
We understand that trust takes time. Some young people may initially need time and space before they feel comfortable enough to relax and build relationships. Through consistency, patience and genuine care, we hope that each young person will come to recognise that the adults around them are on their side, want the best for them and are committed to supporting them towards a positive future.
A Home Combining Character and Comfort
Although Ban Talad is a historic property, it was extensively refurbished approximately two years ago and now offers a modern and contemporary living environment while retaining its distinctive character.
The young person has their own personal bedroom and bathroom, providing an important private space within the home. Their bedroom can be personalised and decorated to reflect their own tastes, interests and personality.
The home also includes a flexible, calm space that can be used as a chill-out area, as well as for therapeutic work and individual key-work sessions.
At the heart of Ban Talad is a modern, open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area — a shared space where everyday life can happen naturally through cooking, eating, relaxing and spending time together.
To the rear of the property is a private gravelled garden, providing an outdoor space where young people and staff can relax and enjoy shared activities, including barbecues. The property also benefits from views towards the distinctive Riber Castle on the hillside above Matlock.
